Abstract

Research about riboflavin and health is gradually increasing in recent years, domestic research on riboflavin and disease prevention such as cancer has also made major breakthroughs. This paper reviews relevant information about riboflavin and cancer prevention, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, degenerative disease of the nervous system, the inherited metabolic diseases, anemia, and cataract, to provide systematic references for health policy formulation, as well as to continue the process and achievement of riboflavin-fortified iodized salt nutrition intervention trial in China. Besides, to implement the proposal of “Implement nutrition interventions in key regions and populations and focus on solving problems such as micronutrient deficiencies” in “Healthy China 2030” blueprint, it is recommended to resume the production and supply of riboflavin-fortified iodized salt in the high-incidence area of esophageal cancer, which will not only have social benefits for residents in high-incidence areas to prevent common diseases such as cancer, but also have a positive effect on improving the current status of long-term insufficient intake of riboflavin among Chinese residents.
