Objective To analyze the frailty status of ovarian cancer patients, compare the differences in phase angle (PA) and nutritional indicators among patients with different frailty states, and explore the correlation between PA and various nutritional indicators. Method A total of 157 newly diagnosed ovarian cancer patients admitted to a cancer specialty hospital in Zhejiang Province, China, from October 2023 to August 2024 were enrolled. Frailty was assessed using the Fried phenotype frailty scale, and patients were divided into a frail group(n=69, 43.95%) and a pre-frail group(n=88, 56.05%). PA and body composition were measured using bioelectrical impedance analysis. Nutritional status was evaluated using the patient-generated subjective global assessment (PG-SGA), and serum nutritional indicators were tested. Differences in PA and nutritional indicators between the two groups were compared using t-tests. Spearman correlation analysis was used to examine the correlation between PA and nutritional indicators. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to identify factors associated with frailty. Result Compared to the pre-frail group, the frail group had significantly lower PA, hemoglobin, albumin, and prealbumin levels, and significantly higher edema index and PG-SGA scores (P < 0.05). Correlation analysis showed that PA was positively correlated with body mass index, body cell mass, waist-to-hip ratio, skeletal muscle mass, mid-upper arm circumference, mid-upper arm muscle circumference, appendicular skeletal muscle mass index, muscle mass, trunk muscle mass, intracellular water, total body water, hemoglobin, albumin, and prealbumin (P < 0.05), and negatively correlated with edema index (r = -0.860) and PG-SGA score (r = -0.222) (P < 0.05). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that, after adjusting for age and education level, PA (OR = 0.205, 95%CI=0.085-0.479, P < 0.001) and PG-SGA score (OR = 2.258, 95%CI=1.617-3.153, P<0.001) were independently associated with frailty. Conclusion PA is closely related to multiple nutritional indicators in ovarian cancer patients with frailty and can effectively distinguish nutritional status across different frailty states, serving as an objective reference indicator for evaluating nutritional status in this patient population.
