Abstract

With the continuous improvement of diagnosis and treatment technology the life expectancy of cancer patients is gradually increasing which makes the complications caused by cancer itself and its treatment become increasingly prominent. Cancer related cognitive impairment CRCI is a type of cancer with functional impairment of memory attention and execution during the course of the disease which affects patients􀆶 daily life and severely reduces the quality of life of patients. So far there is still no effective treatment for this cognitive impairment which is directly or indirectly caused by cancer. In recent years the progress of nutrition intervention in the field of cancer and cognitive disorders has gradually attracted attention. It can be seen that nutrition intervention can improve the prognosis and quality of life of cancer patients and improve cognitive function. In view of this nutritional interventions may provide an opportunity to ameliorate cancer related cognitive impairment. However at present the understanding of nutrition intervention in CRCI is still limited and the potential mechanism of its influence on CRCI is still unknown. Therefore this review intends to summarize the relevant research evidence in recent 10 years and try to explore the potential mechanism of nutrition intervention on CRCI from four aspects aging and frailty neuroinflammatory response metabolic process and epigenetics. It provides new ideas for elucidating the potential application value of nutrition intervention in cancer-related cognitive impairment.
